Dr. Elena Montalván is a board certified dermatologist who is highly trained in medical dermatology, dermatologic surgery and cosmetic dermatology.

After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico with a bachelor's degree in General Sciences, Dr. Montalván completed her medical degree graduating magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. She concluded her post-doctoral training internship at Hospital Municipal de San Juan, and then became Research Fellow of the University of Puerto Rico Dermatology Department. During her Dermatology Research Fellow year she authored a chapter on infectious diseases in the Lippincott’s book Atlas of Dermatology in Internal Medicine and coauthored several medical articles in journals such as The American Journal of Dermatopathology. She then completed dermatology residency training at the University of Puerto Rico, Department of Dermatology, where she served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Montalván is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Puerto Rico Society of Dermatology. She was President of the Puerto Rico Society of Dermatology during 2017-2018 promoting leadership in dermatology and excellence in patient care. She is the Founder and President of Montalván Dermatology and is an active educator of the community through social media.
